My paintings are inspired by Scotland; landscapes, wild flowers and birds, exterior still lifes or interior landscapes. Drawing and colour are the main characteristics providing inspired definition and hoped for intimacy. I use contrasting colours; lime greens, pinks, golds and blues. Drawing brings ideas onto the page with an immediate awareness of space. Working outdoors is always invigorating. It is a fresh experience heightening visual instincts, and lately becoming the starting point for my work, whether landscape, flowers or interiors. I love David Hockney’s work as well as Scottish artists Joan Eardley and William Gillies.Order a view from your house I will travel to the venue of your choice i.e. residence, holiday home, a place you’ve been with a great view, and paint the surrounding landscape. Sketches will be created in a variety of mediums. Affordable prices for venues accessible within 2 hours of Glasgow.
